Tow Truck Crashes into 13 Vehicles in Los Angeles Accident

November 27, 2023 Firm News

A tow truck driver, suspected of driving under the influence (DUI), crashed into multiple vehicles in South Los Angeles early Friday morning, causing significant damage. The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. near Griffith Avenue, between the Fashion District and Historic South Central. The tow truck, after colliding with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, overturned and burst into flames. At least 13 parked vehicles were hit in the process, according to available information.

Security camera footage shows the truck careening out of control and crashing into four parked cars. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and Fire Department officials, along with residents, were seen inspecting the scene in other video clips. The driver was taken to a local hospital and faces DUI charges. Two other individuals sustained minor visible injuries and were also hospitalized, according to available information.

The crash’s impact was severe, with debris scattered across the road and one car being propelled into a nearby home. Officials say the tow truck driver, who had been employed for only a month, was not insured. Griffith Avenue remained closed for about five hours for cleanup operations. Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the driver’s arrest for DUI. The accident is still under investigation.
