Fiery Semi-Truck Crash Kills Two in Wisconsin

October 26, 2023 Firm News

A fiery seven-vehicle crash left two people dead, injured six, and closed the westbound I-94 in western Wisconsin in late October, according to authorities. A semi-truck crashed into another commercial truck, a pickup truck, and several other cars, and this blew up into a large explosion that closed lanes on Interstate 94 for hours, according to available information.

The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. before the bridge for Highway 128, south of Wilson, Wis. according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the state patrol. Video cameras on the interstate depict a white 18-wheeler driving fast, plowing into a group of cars that were moving more slowly.

Construction on the interstate caused the traffic to slow. The driver of the big rig didn’t appear to identify the slower traffic. The semi crashed into a Ford truck, and another semi, as well as four more vehicles before a fire erupted, according to available information.

According to officials, the driver who caused the crash, Zdzislaw Obodzinski, 76, of Palatine, Illinois, and the driver of the F-150, James Shearer, 45, of Hammond, Wisconsin, were killed. The six injured people have been treated and released. Seven vehicles, in total, were involved in the crash.
